Hampden Risk Partners’ (HRP) Syndicate 2689 at Lloyd’s has announced the appointment of James Drew as Senior Underwriter.
In his new role, Drew will focus on underwriting a diverse portfolio of proportional business for top-quartile syndicates in the Lloyd’s market. His remit will also include a selective appetite for complementary MGA and company market opportunities where they align with HRP’s underwriting standards and strategic objectives.
He will report to Active Underwriter Giancarlo D’Alessandro and work under the leadership of CEO Leah Rose as the business continues to develop its specialist underwriting proposition for insurance market clients and partners.
Drew brings extensive experience in reinsurance purchasing across a range of disciplines, including marine and non-marine classes and long- and short-tail exposures.
He has worked for Lloyd’s syndicates and companies in the London market, covering specialty and personal lines business. He also has experience managing exposures and the associated regulatory implications arising from business underwritten across a wide geographical footprint, including Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
Drew joins HRP from MS Amlin, where he served as a Reinsurance Buyer. Prior to that, he was Head of Outwards Reinsurance at Brit Insurance. He has also held roles at Aviva, IAG, Torus Insurance and Liberty Syndicates.
The appointment reflects HRP’s continued commitment to disciplined underwriting, strong market relationships and the delivery of tailored risk solutions for insurance industry participants.
