AXA XL Re Names Expert Augustin Gas as Asia Head

AXA XL Reinsurance, part of AXA XL, has announced the appointment of Augustin Gas as Head of Asia, Reinsurance, effective 1 September 2025.

In his new role, Gas will be responsible for managing AXA XL’s regional reinsurance business across Asia, working with key clients and brokers in the region and leading the team based in Singapore.

He brings more than 20 years of reinsurance industry experience, having successfully managed and grown portfolios across Europe, North America and Asia.

Gas joins AXA XL Re from Arch Re, where he most recently served as a Senior Underwriter.

Prior to that, he spent almost two decades at SCOR, where he held various senior leadership roles, including Head of ILS, Retrocession Manager and SVP, Property Team Leader. Most recently, he was APAC, FGM Chief Underwriting Officer at SCOR.
